Celeste's Mini Charm Pack Challenge Design

I know you are so excited to get your hands on Celeste's new table runner pattern after seeing her cute creation for the Sew Pro Staff Mini Charm Pack Challenge. She is so generous to share her pattern with all of us. Isn't this table runner just so fun, especially with the Dot Dot Dash collection?
The entire line of Dot Dot Dash arrives in October and we can not wait for these fun, bright and vibrant fabrics to arrive. Me & My Sister Designs did a wonderful job with this collection! No surprise there! We do, however already have a number of Dot Dot Dash Charm Packs in the shop from Sample Spree and we have created kits for you to make your very own Charming Mini Chains Table Runner. Get you kit here, your pattern here, and have fun sewing!

Mini Charm Pack Challenge

The Sew Pro Staff Mini Charm Challenge has been so fun! Here's how it went down:
A couple of weeks ago we sent a different Charm Pack to four of our Sew Pro Staff members. They were invited to create anything that they wanted with their Charm Pack. The sky was the limit and boy did we get some darling results!
The Line up: Farmhouse by Fig Tree & Co., Gooseberry by Lella Boutique, Dot Dot Dash by Me & My Sister Designs and Prairie by Corey Yoder.
Each Sew Pro Staff member came up with something very different. It was so fun to see the variety and the creativity.

Sandee created this darling pineapple mini quilt with the lovely Farmhouse fabrics.
Amy had fun with the Gooseberry fabrics and created this stunning pillow.
Celeste played with Dot Dot Dash and designed a brand new table runner pattern.
Trisha turned the Prairie fabric into an adorable zippered bag.
We could not have been more excited about each of the creations. It is so very fun to work with talented, creative people who have such a passion for sewing, quilting and creating. It's fun to see different personalities come out in different projects.
We know you are in love with these fun projects so we are going to share the "how-to's" with you. Stay tuned!

Modern Mini's Main Panel Quilt

Hello all of you Modern Mini fabric lovers! We don't know about you, but we fell in love with all of Lori Holt's little quote squares and we had to come up with the perfect quilt that would showcase each of them.

Here's how we did it:
Block 1
  • Trim a "quote" block into a 3.5" x 3.5" square.
  • Cut (2) 1.5" x 3.5" Strips in white (a)
  • Cut (2) 1.5" x 5.5" Strips in white (b)
  • Cut (2) 1.5" x 7.5" Strips in white (c)
  • Cut (2) 1.5" X 9.5" Strips in white (d)
  • Cut (24) 1.5" x 1.5" Squares using the non-quote squares from Lori Holt's Modern Mini Main Panel fabric and/or a variety of fabrics from the Modern Mini's collection. (e)

Sew the (a) strips to the left and right sides of the quote square.

Sew the (b) strips to the top and bottom of the quote square

Sew five of the (e) squares together

Repeat so you have two sets of 5e

Sew seven of the (e) squares together

Repeat so you have tow sets of 7e
Sew the (5e) strips to the left and right sides of the assembled (a) strips

Sew the (7e) strips to the top and bottom of the assembled (b) strips

Sew the (c) strips the the left and right sides of the assembled (5e) strips

Sew the (d) strips to the top and bottom of the assembled (7e) strips.
Voila! You have a beautiful block that showcases the darling Modern Mini Quote squares!
Be sure to press your seams in between each step. If your'e lucky to have a bored teenager around, you can enlist their help for this part and it goes really fast!

      Block 2
      • Cut a 3.5" x 3.5" square. I used the non-quote squares from the Modern Mini's Main Panel
      • Cut (2) 1.5" x 3.5" Strips in white (a)
      • Cut (2) 1.5" x 5.5" Strips in white (b)
      • Cut (2) 1.5" x 7.5" Strips in white (c)
      • Cut (2) 1.5" x 9.5" Strips in white (d)
      • Cut (2) 1.5" x 5.5" Strips in Modern Mini's fabric (e)
      • Cut (2) 1.5" x 7.5" Strips in Modern Mini's fabric (f)
Sew the (a) strips to the left and right side of the 3.5" square

Sew the (b) strips to the top and bottom of the 3.5" square

Sew the (e) strips the the left and right sides of the assembled (a) strips

Sew the (f) strips to the top and bottom of the assembled (b) strips

Sew the (c) strips to the left and right sides of the (e) strips

Sew the (d) strips to the top and bottom of the (f) strips

Be sure to press your seams in between each step.
Voila! You have a beautiful complimentary block to the quote square block!
we chose to do our quilt using 36 blocks total, 18 of the quote square blocks and 18 of the complimentary blocks. We alternated them to create a 6 x 6 block quilt.
We then added a 4.5" border, using Modern Mini's Graph Paper in white
As soon as time allows we will quilt it and add a scrappy binding! The finished quilt size will be about 65" x 65".

We can't wait to see your variations! Please share them with us on Instagram and tag us @loulousfabricshop!
        Happy Sewing!
