Sandee's Mini Charm Pack Challenge

We absolutely adore this beautiful Pineapple Mini created by Sandee with the Farmhouse Mini Charm Pack! Sandee is originally from Hawaii and we love that she chose a project that represents "home" for her.

Here's Sandee's write up for the Sew Pro Staff Mini Charm Pack Challenge:
 Pineapple Mini
I was super excited to start my first project as a Sew Pro Staff member.  When I received my mini charm square pack in Farmhouse fabric I knew exactly what I would make. I had been gushing over the pineapple minis that I've seen all over Instagram. Brings back sweet memories of my home in Hawaii.
Pineapple Mini Quilt - pattern inspired by Jackie Padesky quilts
Pineapple crown - 8 - 2 1/2" squares
White- 8 - 2 1/2" squares
Body of pineapple - 20 - 2 1/2" squares

If you take a look at my layout and follow along you can see that HST make up the crown and the top and bottom corners of the pineapple body.  This is the perfect project for mini charm packs, minimal cutting! Play around with fabric combinations to make it your own.

For my sashing I cut 2 1/2 inch strips x width and length of pineapple.  After I quilted the mini I cut the backing fabric saving 1" all the way around and used that as my binding.  I call it "cheat binding" but for a mini it works wonderfully!

Amy's Mini Charm Challenge

The Sew Your Heart Out Pillow created by Sew Pro Staff member, Amy Carrington is oh sew lovely! We asked, and she delivered with the Sew Pro Staff Mini Charm Challenge!

What a perfect use of the Gooseberry fabric collection by Lella Boutique. We are loving the red's, the navy's and the aqua's!
Here's how Amy created this fun afternoon project:
The "ingredients" for the pillow are:
A mini charm pack
Fat quarter of background fabric
Fat quarter of backing fabric
16" square pillow
I laid out 30 charm squares and cut (16) 2-1/2" squares from the background fabric and made 10 Half Triangle Squares (HST's) and used the remaining 6 to complete the square.

(I pressed the HST seams open, but pressed the other seams to one side so they would nest when I sewed the rows together.)
Then I added a 2-1/2" border on all sides and trimmed it up to make a 16" square.  Then I watched MADE Everyday's tutorial to complete the back.

Now, we know you can hardly wait to get started on your own Sew Your Heart Out Pillow so we've added kits in the shop just for you!
The kits will include:
~ One Gooseberry Mini Charm Pack
~ One fat quarter of Gray Swiss Dot fabric for the background & border
~ One fat quarter of Moda Cross Weave in Graphite
Get your kit, grab a 16" pillow from your local craft store (or cover an old pillow) and Sew You Heart Out!
Oh yeah, don't forget to share your completed project with us! We would LOVE to see it!
