My fat quarter bundle of Lil Red from Loulou’s Fabric Shop arrived in mid December and between all the hustle and bustle of Christmas and New Years it took me a while to dig into it.
I really wanted to showcase how adorable this fabric is so I decided on bigger blocks. My mini quilt measures at 30x30. The quilt consists of 16, 7 1/2 inch blocks. 6 square in square blocks, 6 hourglass blocks and four squares in the middle. I finished it with a 2 inch border all around with fussy cut 2 inch corner squares.
I had intended to quilt it but in the end I tied it, because let's face it that's what Lil Red's Granny would've done!
I thought it would be fun to do a picture tutorial of my method for creating these blocks, let's get started!
Square in Square block - this is one of my favorites and it's so easy.
(all seams are sewn at 1/4" and pressed to the side)

Are you ready for more cuteness overload? There's a panel in the fat quarter bundle of Lil Red from Loulou’s Fabric Shop. It includes a Lil Red doll, skirt, cape, mini quilt, pillow and funny guy named Mr. Big!
